CONGRATULATIONS TO icezebra11 FOR THE FTF!!
This is a puzzle cache. You will NOT find the cache at the listed coordinates. Solve the puzzle to learn where the physical cache is located.
This cache was placed and published on September 20th. September 20th is an especially important date to me--I was born on September 20th! So was my wife, Denali50. And Tahosa and Sons shares this birthday with us. So does icezebra11's wife. And my cousin Pearl took her first breath of air on September 20th, as did two business colleagues who for many years served on executive management teams with me. And a fitness friend at the gym, Barbara, also has this birth date. And the list goes on!
And heck, even geocaches have "birthdays". "Kesugi" (GC4KDZ1), a multi-cache that was placed on September 20th as a birthday gift to me, is one. And 2 years ago, on Denali 50's and my annual birthday trip to Grand Teton National Park, we stopped near Dubois, WY and placed Near the Boundary--Fitzpatrick Wilderness Area (GC5DM46) on--you guessed it--September 20th.
And I have a favorite geocoin that was given to me on the occasion of my 70th birthday by The Colorado Caboose and Tahosa. It’s TB3DK72, Mt McKinley Geocoin. Mt. McKinley was a former name for Denali, the high point of North America–a mountain that in two expeditions I’ve spent 40 days on and have reached the summit of. This marvelous birthday coin has traveled almost 600,000 miles visiting geocaches around Colorado, the U.S., and the world. It was activated on September 20th, 2011.
The calendar suggests something interesting about people born on and around September 20th. That date is approximately 9 months after Christmas–so we were blessings to our parents for their holiday season canoodling. I know that Denali50 and I were both real joys to our parents, and I suspect all the others were to their parents, also! Really happy outcomes, indeed, from a joyous season of the year...
Once you’ve solved the puzzle, prepare to take a hike in the foothills of the Front Range. You will use a trail system in Bobcat Ridge Natural Area to gain access to a tract of US Forest Service land where the cache is located. The container is a small jar wrapped in black tape, placed in rocks 5-6 feet East of a 12-15 inch-diameter Ponderosa Pine tree. Dogs are not allowed on trails in the natural area. Choose a day of pleasant weather so you can truly appreciate your hike and this special birthday cache, published on September 20th! Have fun!
