Tagged along with Path Pacer to seek this cache. Really nice hike in to stage 1, with a little bit of fall colors remaining along the meadows. Love the heart-shaped container here! Then the lessons began. I've used maps & compasses for many years, but I've never gone through mapping at this level before , let alone used a roamer scale. Path Pacer showed me all the processes, but didn't like the answer, so I had her walk me through it all over again. This time the cords were closer to what she expected, so off we went for stage 2, which was way off... By geo-senses, photos & sat. images, the cache was finally in-hand, 312 ft away. Awesome spot for a cache! The views were amazing. Thanks for the lessons & a great multi-cache!

Did this one with Bug Ranger today, but we certainly didn't find it with any mapping skills! I'll have to get with you at the potluck to see what I'm doing wrong (we were over 300' off). On the bright side, good geo-senses can find almost anything, especially when you throw in satellite imaging. ;)
It sure is a lovely spot. Really incredible views, particularly as they're of my back yard. The pictures don't do it justice. Thanks for taking us up there! (Loved the heart-shaped container.)

Awesome cache. The description mentions being able to perform intersections, using roamer scales, UTM's, etc. He's not kidding! Make sure you know your land navigation! I could not have picked better weather for this one. Warm sun and a cooling wind. Excellent! The aspens were in full gold mode. I have been up in this area on previous occasions while going after othter caches and I forgot how gorgeous this area is. Mountains, meadows, forest, rocks, etc. I didn't see any wildlife other than a mountain biker and a grouse. :-) The vista from the final is amazing! Sweeping view that takes it all in. I took the neat coaster and left some souvenir pesos I had from a trip to Mexico. See the attached pics. As always, another excellent Tahosa cache! Thank you for showing me another area that I never would have known about! TFTC!! :-)

The forecast for today was for snow to move into the high country mid-afternoon so I decided today's hike would be fairly close to home. I have been all over this mountain many times logging all of the other Tahosa caches so I wanted to also log this one. After Denali41 got FTF on this cache, Tahosa asked him to reconfigure it some. So today was the day to make the trek to GZ and do the new map work. I also wanted to log The Mull of Crosier and several caches near the Glen Haven trailhead that I hadn't yet found so I parked at that trailhead. First I hiked all the way to the Mull and logged it. Then I headed back for this one. The others I did on the way back out.
This is a cache that will test your ability to plot coordinates and intersections. When you are successful, you will find yourself at a wonderful location where there is a nice cache and fantastic views. I dropped off a nice geocoin that I recently retrieved from Diablo Point Cache in AZ while spending some time with Tahosa and his family. Thanks Tahosa for another great Crosier Mountain cache!!!

STF!! LOL. Okay so no first, but hey, i got it! This has been on my radar for a while, the floods last year closed everything and I have been too busy working and playing with my new jeep to come enjoy the solitude of crosier mountain. what an amazing day for a hike! 32 at the trailhead about 8 AM, and now about noon, pushing 70 degrees! There is no doubt that tahosa cache's are top notch, thanks to all involved in placing this! As this is cache 199 (i've been doing this for a LONG time) i go for quality, not quantity. I have a feeling Golgatha will need to be my 200.
detoured over to an old radio tower I've been wanting to check out for a while, make a great 6 hour hike out of this adventure!
Took alvin travel bug, will move it along soon. Thanks for a great day on "west crosier," which without this cache i probably wouldn't have wandered over here...as there are no official USFS trails.
