This cache is in Cherry Creek State Park.  Entrance fee is required for all vehicles.  I received permission from the CCSP Park Ranger to place this cache inside Cherry Creek State Park.

The Smoky Hill Trail was an American trail across the central Great Plains of North America in use from 1855 to 1870.[1][2] Established in what was then Kansas Territory, it extended west from Atchison, Kansas on theMissouri River to Denver, spanning the length of what is today Kansas and the eastern portion of Colorado.[2] The trail was named after the Smoky Hill River whose course it paralleled for much of its length.[3] Used by prospectors as the most direct route west to the Colorado gold fields during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush, it later served as a path westward for American settlers before being gradually superseded by the Kansas Pacific Railway.

A park pass is required on all vehicles. No fee is required if accessing CCSP on foot or bicycle. A daily park pass is only $9. Bring a picnic and make a day out of it.

Found with my uncle, benj59, back in November, 2016. I have my own account now and I'm catching up on some logs. He's helping me write them. :) Thanks for the geocache!

Signed log lw77 and sc77 due to space limitations. Thank you for the second hint. Had not heard of him or it but google found it. Once we found the correct starting point it was spot on. Impossible to find without that hint. Live Wire 77 and I taking advantage of the free state park pass for August and getting in some geocaching and a picnic. Along with 2.25 miles walking. We found 9 of 9 that we could look for. Thank you for placing this cache so we could enjoy the game. sl

Had a little caching trip this afternoon with Kerewin0430 - there were quite a few folks enjoying the nice day, but they didn't seem to be congregated were we needed to search. Thanks for the cache and getting me out here on a nice day!

Colorado State Parks give military members free access for the month of August, so after drill was finished for the weekend, COPackrat and I met up to knock these out! This was definitely a tricky one...tough hide, and TONS of muggles around. Can't blame them - it was a beautiful evening! We needed to google the answer to the hint, and even then it was a challenge to get to because of a nearby family. Thanks for placing this one.
