This is a puzzle cache. To locate the container, you will need
to visit the six caches in the Colorful Colorado series and obtain
the color-coded clue from inside the front cover of each logbook.
Combine the clues as outlined below, verify with geochecker, and
complete a short hike. The cache rating includes the
difficulty/terrain to find and use the clues.
Each clue is a direction and numerical distance. Combine the six
offsets you obtain from the caches and the one offset given below
in any order. Apply the total offset to the listed coordinates of
this cache to obtain the coordinates of the container.
The clues are all given in meters, and the computation is very
easy if done in the UTM coordinate system.
The worksheet included in the gallery may help in your
computation. East and west offsets will add or subtract
respectively from the E portion of the UTM coordinates. Likewise,
north and south offsets will add or subtract respectively from the
N portion of the UTM coordinates. Convert the final result back to
standard format to
verify it with Geochecker.
Your first clue is
The numeric equivalent of this clue is already entered on the
worksheet to get you started. If you have questions, see this website
or send email for clarification.
06/30/2018 By OR85OR450 Wow... No Where Near enough folks have made it through this series & on to this final!! Best amazing color today was in the variety of watersports/ amusement devices being hauled up RR Rd towards the reservoir in this warm early summer weekend !!! Must have looked like southern California in there by afternoon.
Cache is in great shape... more incredulous than CO finding this hiding spot to begin with... is seeing a few logs by non-cachers 'accidentally' finding it ??!!??
07/08/2017 By billkat What an outstanding series! It started last fall with Black and I knew I was going to have to do it all. WingsAndTales hiked with me up blue and green. (Not sure I could have made it up blue if not for her encouragement). Getting those done first was a good thing. Red, White and Gold were cake compared to those. Then it was a little math quiz which I failed the first try but I saw the error of my ways and finally got the ok from the checker. I had some trouble finding access to the final, but with a little help I finally found the way and rejoiced upon reaching the final and logging it. I grabbed a couple TBs so they could be moved along and left an airplane keychain. I can't say enough about Colorful Colorado and all the work that Ernie put into it for our enjoyment. Thank you so much!!!
08/09/2014 By hartsdale Out for a hike with Snailman1 on this nice cool morning with Elk and Deer crossing or just on the side of the road.
I started this fun series back on 9/17/11 and put it on the back burner and slowly got all the clues on some of the best hikes that I have been on.
Great work on all the containers and coords were always dead on.
Thanks for all the work to get this one in play!
I swapped out all the trackables.

08/09/2014 By SnailMan1 It been a long time since I started this one. I found the last puzzle piece a month or so ago so I was able to finally go and look for the final today. I meet up with Hartsdale this morning who manage to find all of the puzzle pieces at a much quick rate than I. We had a nice early morning stroll to this one on this cool morning. Thanks for the all of the nice hikes!
08/24/2013 By 3 Williams Kidz Update to our having spotted the smoke and called it in -- all is well. The Forest Service just called us back, and let us know that they found the smoldering tree, they did their thing, and it is now OUT. No worries VERY glad to hear that
