Join other geocachers for a fairly early meet-and-greet in Big Thompson Canyon before I lead a geocaching hike up the Garden Gate Trail to “Drake Meadow” on Crosier Mountain.  It is NOT necessary to join in the hike in order to attend the Event! And it is unnecessary to attend the event in order to take the hike. The post-event hike will take us to a number of interesting caches, and participants will most likely learn some mapping and GPS techniques they have not used in the past.

The event will be held at the CCC shelter area of Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park, about half way up the canyon to Crosier Mountain. Food will not be provided, but if you wish to bring breakfast items to munch on while we visit, please do so.  I probably will.

For those also interested in the hike, please message me and I will send a listing of the geocaches we will attempt finding as well as suggestions on what to bring.

It was great to see old friends, meet other cachers, and hike with you all. Thanks Steve for hosting this event and making the hiking arrangements. Here are a couple pictures of the group that went to Lil Tahosa's cache taken a little ways below the ridge. The rain and thunder started and sent people quickly down off the ridge before we could get the picture taken at the cache.

WOW-WEE! What a fun event, and I finally got to meet Tahosa and IceZebra in person. After the event a hardy group of Geocachers made our way up the valley for some real adventure. I enjoyed the lesson on UTM, Projections, and the curvature of the earth. We managed to bag all of the targets on our list, including summiting Lil Tahosa Mountain in pea soup fog and sprinkles of rain. Happy Birthday Jason, and happy early Birthday to Steve! Always enjoy spending time in the field with my fellow enthusiasts.

WOW I finally was a FTF on a Cache. Imagine that I beat Denali41 as the FTF
Words cannot explain the thank you to Denali41 for this special event.
I do hope that those who went to Crosier Mountain were able to burn off
the calories from those carrot muffins.
It was so nice to meet many of those that attended
