CONGRATULATIONS TO Tahosa and Sons FOR THE FTF!!! His Found it log is filled with nuances pertaining specifically to his adventures with this cache.
This cache is a tribute to Tahosa and Sons, published on the 15th anniversary of his first day of geocaching–September 9, 2001.
Through these 15 years Tahosa’s influence on many cachers has been significant. His patient instruction and creative caches have inspired many cachers to learn and become skilled in geoteering methodologies–to use maps, scalers, and to learn and employ the remarkable “power” of hand-held GPS units. Thank you for the lessons and the motivational influences your work over 15 years has had on many!
This is a 3-stage multi-cache that is probably more easily accomplished with a hand-held GPS unit than with a smart phone. Stages 1 and 2 direct you onward, if you understand datums. In each stage container, a “hint” is provided that targets the correct choice you need to make to advance to the next stage.
The stages are hidden in a State Wildlife Area. Caching is permitted in the area but there are seasonal restrictions. From March 15th through July 15th, the waterfowl nesting period, public access is prohibited–this prohibition is enforced, so don’t enter the area during this period so important to our nesting waterfowl and to certain shorebirds. Public access is also restricted from the first day of waterfowl hunting season (October 1st) to the first day of pheasant hunting season (about November 12th), although during this period access IS allowed on Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, and holidays. During periods when public use is permitted, dogs are allowed but they must be on leash at all times. All cache stages can be reached from the suggested parking area, but it is far more time-efficient to return to your vehicle after finding the second stage, and then to drive to another parking spot that will become logical once you know the coordinates for the Final.
Enjoy this tribute multi and its underlying meaning, as well as the wildlife area you will experience!
