The History of Canyon Creek School, District 32

Begins with the diary of early-day resident, Rose Boland, states that classes were first held in 1891 in a cabin on the Boland ranch with Mr. Baxter as teacher.
The present building was erected by Eugene Wolverton on land donated by the Wolvertons in 1907. The land was deeded to the district in 1931.
Attendance varied from one child to 24 children in all eight grades when consolidation closed the school in 1958.
Due to the gasoline shortage during World War II, teacher Margaret Lucksinger lived at the school in the small room beside the cloak room. Following the war until its closing in 1958, Margaret Donegan was the teacher.

Concerned neighbors obtained a lease in 1960 after vandals destroyed the window glass. They boarded up the windows and used the school building as a social center that continues today.  Joint efforts have replaced the glass, installed a propane furnace and painted the building inside and outside.
In August, 2003 the school was placed on the national historic register, due in large part to Violet Mooney who began the process in 2002.
Plans are underway to replace the rock foundation of the 100 year-old bulding to guarantee its stability.
This cache was placed with the permission of Mrs. Violet Mooney, she asks that children are more than welcome to play on the playground but please respect the property, stealth may be required during a function otherwise a nice peaceful area, Happy chaching....... AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE FTF BIRTHDAY BOY DARR!!

Temporarily Disable Listing 05/13/2019 By IgnotusPeverell
Greetings happydog67, I'm IgnotusPeverell, one of the volunteer reviewers for caches submitted to Geocaching.com.

This cache was brought to my attention by one or more of your fellow cachers that think this cache is missing and/or in need of maintenance. I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and I am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running again in the future. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give you the opportunity to check on the cache, and repair it, if necessary. Cache maintenance includes listing maintenance including updating any changes to the text, updating coordinates, removing needs maintenance attributes and enabling the listing. If the owner feels they will not be able to repair this in a timely manner, please let me know, and I'll archive it. This will keep the cache from continually showing up in search lists. It can be enabled once you have made repairs. Please use the "Write Note" feature to leave notes on the cache page. Please do not use the "OWNER MAINTENANCE" log until you do the maintenance, and the cache is ready to be found again.

When repairs to this cache are completed and it is time to enable your cache, it will be no problem. You can re-enable the cache page by clicking the link under the cache name or by checking the box that says the cache is active. If a "Needs Maintenance" log was posted, you will also need to log an Owner Maintenance log to clear the "Needs Maintenance" icon from the geocache page.

I look forward to hearing from you. Do not reply to this email. It is sent by a no-reply mailbot so I won't get it. To respond, please do NOT send me an e-mail or a message center conversation as they lack needed functionality for reviewing. Leave a new "Reviewer Note" log here on your cache page. If you're not familiar with this process, see the instructions here. I have your cache on my watchlist, and I will receive a notification when you write your note.

"If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived."

Additionally, please note that if I've not heard from you in 4 weeks, I may be forced to archive this cache. Don't let your cache get archived for non-communication

Thanks for your understanding,
IgnotusPeverell

Third time back for this one in the past two years. Had the hieroglyphics figured out last visit, but water too high and strong. This time there was a new foot bridge built, no water so able to search very carefully and thorough. It is eluding us. Worker was out working on the school building. Three strikes and we're out.
