An easy cache to add to your geocaching experience in the grasslands.

The Pawnee is an internationally known birding area. It supports many bird species, especially during migration. The Colorado State Bird, the lark bunting, is very common on the grassland in spring and summer. The grassland also has many unique high plains bird species such as the mountain plover, burrowing owl and many birds of prey. Hiking, camping, picnicking, horseback riding and stargazing are also popular activities. Pronghorn, mule deer, coyote, swift fox, snakes and prairie dogs are just a few of the species that make the prairie their home.

Nice and easy. Visiting from Florida and what a contrast on the weather. Although it was cold and breezy it turned out to be a good day to grab a bunch of caches. The cache was in good shape. TFTC

Spent the day looking for geocaches in the grasslands. Replaced container. As usual, a very windy day making it a challenge to keep logsheets from blowing away. SL, thanks for all the placements.

After heading to the tri-state virtual and having time to kill before my flight out of Denver, it seemed appropriate to do the local caches. These included a bunch in the grasslands of various series that happened to be in the area. With the car thermometer saying it was 99 degrees outside. Pounding water as fast as I could, I ran out of what was in the car. Similiarly the car was consuming gasoline keeping the engine revved for the AC. After a while I needed to start paying attention to the time to the airport and make my flights. I still felt better off than the guy who was in the tractor. It also was great to go through this field of windmills.

Most of the containers were in fine shape. One was clearly crushed and I replaced a log or two.
