Seeking this cache will take you along the less travelled path. Beware of poison ivy along the trail!! Dogs can be off leash.
Traditional ammo can. Original contents include a monkey, fossils, lion, dog, and other little critters. Bring your fishing pole for a day of fishing. This area has an interesting history. Along the river, there used to be a railroad that took passengers to the now abandoned Platte River Hotel that you are sure to see near the parking area. Enjoy your day!

~ Cache find #9097 ~

Found with Evgnhiker on a nice hike down the Platte. We haven't spent much time down here this summer and decided for a nice flat hike. We started on the trail on the north side of the river, which we have hiked before, but decided to move to the other side of the river where there seemed to be more shade. The north side of the river is cooler and very much less-traveled with a single-track trail which lends to some bushwhacking. After finding the cache we hiked as far as we could down the trail.

Thanks for the hide!

I have made the cache trek down the other side of the river, so this one has been on my list for a while. Was in the area and walked down to this one after a nice hike. Of course, the rain didn't start until I got within 100 ft of the cache. Had to use a faint geo-trail to find this one, gpsr wanted me downhill and downstream a bit. Cheers!

Saw a couple of stellar jays in the area. Cache somewhat uphill of GZ for us, in a stout fortification. Left a TB. TFTC

Well that was indeed a good day of caching. This path is well worth the walk. It has a completely different character from the other side of the river. Thanks for bringing me here. TFTC BigSmile

Nice trail to follow to and from.

After the find, I fished my way back to the truck to grab my bike to use on the otherside.

Thanks for a fun container to find1

I brought the whole family out to this area today. It's got something for all of us: hiking, caching, & water play! My husband and big geokid scrambled up to find this one for team, and my little geokid & I came up second. It was a fun adventure! The south side trail seems more like a mountain trail, and the railroad grade across the stream feels more like a road, so this cache was much more fun! TFTC!

Saw a few sprigs of poison ivy (I think - leaves of three, let it be). Coordinates were slightly off but still easy to find. Gorgeous day to be out, not many muggles for a Sunday. TFTC!
