Needs maintenance

Located up the side of the mountain just off the Gunnison City Parks.
This is a very beautiful location. Grew up playing in these hills. Spent a lot of time all over this mountain. Take time to walk along the nature trail and learn about the area.

Cache is an icecream bucket filled with various interesting items. Please be sure to log your visit. I'll have spy's checking on the cache periodically... (Caution... this is not a winter cache... The avalance danger in the area can and just might KILL you!!! Also note that the mountainous terrain might fiddle with your gps lock... just give it a little time and you'll be ok.) 2016 note: My spy's have left the area. The cache needs a new container. If you're willing and planning a visit a replacement container would be appreciated.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stop here. The signs were quite informative, we learned quite a bit about the natural aspects of this area. We climbed up the hill quite a bit and the GPS bounced all over. We went as high as a huge boulder that had a tree growing right behind it but now we question if we went high enough. Hope this cache gets the maintenance that is needs, it's a wonderful tribute to an Eagle Scout who died way too young.

Nature trail was surprisingly uphill then you have to earn the find. Cache does need maintenance, waterlogged - dumped the water out but needs tlc.

Wow, I earned this smiley. Great climb up in the first high snow of the season. Took me crawling on all fours in the loose snow. Had to go a bit higher than the cache so that I could maneuver across and back down again through the snow. The cache is really wet, but I was able to sign the log. Have a favorite point for the work necessary to get up here!
The view from on high in the snow!

View down the chute!

WE followed the Nature trail to the end and then started our climb up the hill. GZ took us to high up the hill. I started down the hill and spotted the container. The log was a little damp but it was no problem to stamp it. You need to put some tape over the poor spout to keep the log dry. Thanks for keeping this one going over the years. Going down the hill was alot harder than going up. [8d][8d] SL TFTC

Enjoyed the spring hike! Unfortunately, the inside of the cache is soaked, including the log. TFTC!

TFTC! Out caching locally today with my geo-dog. It looked like it might rain all day and never did.

The cache is a large thermos now and wet inside . The ground was soft from the last storm so it was a little bit nerve-racking to get to.

Probably not safe but got it anyway, had to walk over what was clearly an avalanche recently. Saw some white tail deer. Didn't sign log because everything was soaked inside

As for the location of this cache - what's wrong with you?! Just kidding...enjoyed the scramble to get to the cache. Turned it upside down so water wouldn't leak through the top.

A bit of a climb for this wimp but I made it with the help of weatherman64. We turned to a semi dry page in the log to sign. Pretty wet inside. TFTC!
