Locals, tourists and adventurers of all types travel US Highway 550 between Durango and Silverton, CO. There are fabulous views all along the way, but two peaks dominate much of the sights: Engineer Mountain (12,613 ft or 3844 meters) and Spud Mountain (11,871 ft or 3618 meters).
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) and United States Forest Service (USFS) list Potato Hill on their maps, but locally Spud Mountain is the moniker given to the peak, for obvious reasons when you see it.
This cache is a camo container located in a nice rock bench that offers a framed view of Spud Mountain, and is convenient for a snack and refreshment spot. It is large enough for trackables and good swag.
Please respect the condo complex and be a good visitor.
FIF gets a small LED light with a carabiner.
HAPPY CACHING!
