Why is the Spartan little and blue? is it due to the cold?
Thanks to Queen Zelda for placing a cache in this area. When I got to her cache I knew I had to go farther up and place one of my own.

In order to get credit for this cache you must park at the end of the Browns pass road. No being a red neck and driving over the fragile terrain. Get your a** off the seat and hike the 1.14 miles and the 800 vertical feet up to the cache. You can always walk from farther away if you choose.

You will not be disappointed with the views and the large man made structures near by.

This cache is about the journey so when you get to the cache you should easily find the full fledged ammo can.

I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I did, even though I dumped my moto twice. Yes the road is tricky in places.

I parked at Weston Pass and came up the ridge to get the caches there and summit Horseshoe Mt as well. On the way back I came down to this one. The cache is in great shape and the spartan has plenty of friends in the cache. He needs them since it has been over 2 years since someone stopped to check on him. There was still a pretty healthy cornice of snow on the east side of the ridge. It won't be long before new snow is joining it. I was able to go around it to the south to get back up to the ridge but it was steep and the rock was really loose. TFTC

The little spartan doesn't seem to get many visitors... Saw a herd of 40-50 elk on the way up - two of the younger ones got separated from the herd, and as I hiked closer had to scurry to close the gap. Almost like they were't paying attention, and all of a sudden looked up and thought "Hey, where did everybody go? And what's walking across the tundra towards us?"

Thanks for placing the cache in such a nice spot!

Interesting road, but the jeep was up to the challenge and didn't let us down. I think it was more than happy to have a rest as ernie66 and I hiked the remaining distance to the cache. Yes, it was only 1.14 miles and 800 elevation gain, but we had just finished hiking to the summit of Ptarmigan, so it felt more than triple that distance to me. As soon as I got out of the car and looked up the hill, I knew exactly where you had placed the cache. Still, it was a beautiful day and the surrounding views were exceptional. So thank you for bringing us up there.

The cache is still in perfect shape. Estes01 drove up to the ridgetop at the QZ cache below and we walked the rest of the way. Her Jeep waited patiently while watching us having fun on the rocky slopes above. This is a pretty remote spot and I think I can say with near certainty that I never would have gone there without the cache as bait. We noticed a large plume of smoke rising from somewhere behind Mt. Sherman - yet another fire in a very dry state. Fantastic spot for a cache - thanks!

The little blue spartan looked very unhappy when we opened the lid on the ammo box. We thought it might be from being locked up for 3 days...but upon closer inspection, we noticed what was supporting him...OUCH!!! It's no wonder he's so grouchy. Really nice hike up to the cache. We got to see a big bull moose up close on the way up, too. TNLN and signed the logbook. Thanks for the ammobox in such a great place!
