Welcome to Empire!  Elevation 8,601, population 345.  Empire is part of Colorado's early mining history and the search for silver and gold. In the fall of 1860 miners struck silver in what is now Empire making it the first true fissure lode discovered in Colorado.  Empire enjoyed prosperity from 1861 to 1865.  

You are searching for a very easy Park and Grab Geocache large enough for Swag and Travel Bugs, with convienent parking nearby.  Easiest access is from North Bound Highway 40 right as you pull into town.  Enjoy your hunt!

Found with lakesidechilly. A deer was sleeping at the base of the sign. It made me jump and run for my life thinking I was being attacked by a bull elk ran back to car and sent my husband instead. Tftc and took a trackable to bring back home.

Woo hoo! I don't know how this happens, but this is the third time I've gone hiking and just happened to pick a spot with an {*FTF*} ! Very last minute, like this morning, I changed my plans and headed this way instead of elsewhere. I was pulling up Cachly to navigate to a cache up around Berthoud Pass and to my surprise I spotted the red banner. Right. Along. The. Way. How could I not make the stop??? Signed the log, grabbed the TB, and headed up a little higher. Thanks for the smiley!!!
