This cache is dedicated to my father who passed away in 2000. This cache is on US Forest Service and off of the beaten path. Depending on the season the cache difficulty will go from 2.5 to 5+ as will the terrain. You might be able to find the cache in early winter but I'd guess mid November thru April the cache will be covered by snow. There are a couple ways to get to this cache so take your pick.
This cache was placed to honor my father who died in 2000. Dad would have loved caching and My brother and I decided this would be a great way to honor him. We thought about where to place the cache and there was really only one place that would be suitable. This area was one of our favorite places to both summer and winter camp with the boy scouts. Dad was the scout master for for BSA Troop 268 out of Boulder CO and we really specialized in winter camping. We built amazing snow caves and igloos in this area. More than once we helped lost and or stranded X-country skiers make it safely back to their vehicles. Dad taught so many of us so much I can't even begin to cover it all. Dad loved this area, I hope you do to. The original cache contents includes a Longs Peak GeoCoin dedicated to dad, a survival blanket, a couple swag items for kids and a track-able or two.

What a story, what a Dad, what a cache, what a view. Would love to bring my sons back here someday so they could experience this exhilarating environment and the thrill of this find.

I found this cache as part of "Team Irish Gold." Thanks for the cache!

I found your cache as part of Team Irish Gold's Epic Roadtrip (or "TIGER"), a 3800 mile journey from my home in Pittsburgh to visit my daughter at her new home in Boulder. The drive was fun because of the great company of Goldilocks, the other half of Team Irish Gold. Along the way we found geocaches in 73 counties within eight states - with NO DNF's!

Today was our third full day in Colorado. My daughter (Little Leprechaun) joined us for fun adventures and drove us around the Peak to Peak highway, ending up in Estes Park. We had a great day! We are happy that we chose a side trip to Brainard Lake at my daughter's suggestion, because we found some great caches like this one, and we also saw a moose really close up. We especially liked the hike to this cache, the "secret pond" near ground zero, and the nice story on the cache page.

For all the above reasons, your cache earns not only a favorite point but also a spot on my "Top 5% Favorite Cache Hunts" bookmark list. Thanks, lfppdf8, for hiding and maintaining this cache!

Awesome spot, enjoyed the view of the snow-dusted mountains from the nearby lake. Left a piece of sea glass.

Checked on the cache. All is well. Grabbed the TB that's been marooned there for nearly a year.

It was wonderful to be able to get back up here with Paul and Julie.

This is a place full of memories. Huge snow caves in the drifts on the east side of the lake. Snowshoeing up hear with a toboggan loaded with cast iron cookware to better feed the scout troop. Our dad was a master at cast iron baking. I can taste peach cobbler as I'm typing this! My very first boy scout camp out was just a bit up the road at Left Hand Reservoir.

Julie and I along with brother Mark, Cadet1620, placed this cache more than 6 years ago in honor of our father. This is the first time Julie and I have returned since its placement and we decided to toast Dad with one of the finest brews in America. Julie brought the Allagash Tripel from back east and I couldn't think of a better place to share it. It was starting to rain as we hiked to the cache but once we arrived the sky cleared and the sun came out. We uncovered the cache and set off to prepare the toast. The glasses filled, we all stood and toasted our dad and this beautiful place. I did drop a trackable in the cache for the next finder to grab.

A shout out to brother Bruce who couldn't be here with us...sorry but not really...I got to savor your share of the Allagash.
