Scenic view  Seasonal Access

Cross Mountain Trail is more scenic than you might first think.  Also the Jeep road passes a lot of mining history.
This cache will probably be available only from July through September because of snowpack.

The trails of Cross Mountain Colorado are just a quick trip from Taylor Park.  Located on the south side of beautiful Union Park, Cross Mountain is a short but challenging trail.  What makes the trail difficult is that much of the trail has a severe side slant to it as it climbs its way up the mountain. we had no problem with the trail on our Polaris RZR but ATV's may find the trail nerve racking.

This is a great ride.  We pass through the town of Tincup and head West down Slaughterhouse Gulch.  Some open and forest riding as the trail has some large whoops as you travel toward Union Park.  As you reach Union Park the landscape opens to a large meadow with dirt trails for some high speed travel.  Continue on to the “cow camp” and pass through several gates before heading South.   The trail climbs dramatically (low gear) and passes several dilapidated buildings.  You reach the top to find an American Flag flying with a small cross at the base.   A 360 degree view of the mountains and Taylor Park.

Well we made our annual trip to Taylor Park for the RZR Rally and had a ball. Checked all my caches and did maintenance as needed. All are ready to be found.

Wonderful trip up the mountain. Found cache with ease and signed. Broke a steering box on our Jeep on the way down and had to leave it overnight. Great to have so many friends along to help.

Out with some friends Jeeping in the area. This was our lunch spot and the only two Geocachers in the group went for the find. Not much wind and mild temperatures made this a great stop for food and a smiley. TFTC

TFTC! Oh, the allure of a {FTF}. SoldierGrrrl and I would probably been in for a 5 hour walk without the RZR. What an amazing view up there made all the more beautiful with the leaves changing. I gave it a favorite point because it was a worthy place for a geo-cache.
