!! Exciting New Cache Series!!

“COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST”

The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado.  This series will introduce you to many of them.

The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.

COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST is not affiliated with any other ‘Spirit Quest’ group.  Special thanks and credit are given to SixDogTeam who started the Indiana Spirit Quest in 2004. The idea has rapidly spread into many states.

The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task.  It cannot be accomplished by just one or two people.  This project will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers  willing to place these caches.

After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.

If you are interested in joining the “Walking Through History Clan” contact may be made by sending an e-mail to the owner of “Colorado Spirit Quest #1 – Mo untain Passage”.  Use the ‘Send Message” link at the center of the page of their profile.

Each person that places a CSQ cache is responsible for its maintenance.

REMEMBER:

If you are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries – AVOID this series.

The cache container is a camoed 35mm film canister.  You will not need to enter the cemetery to find the cache and it is available 24 hours a day

This cemetery has about 400 markers in it and the oldest we could find was 1889. If you look closely at the top photo, you will see the landscaping crew that has just arrived to do their job.

We drove to this one after visiting Devil's Gap in Kansas. Although Google Maps tried to get us to detour through St. Francis, we decided to take a direct route, full speed ahead on dirt roads. Well, at one point the undercarriage of my Outback was getting well-brushed by the weeds in the middle of the two-track roads, but we made it without serious mishap. BugRanger and I are out for a short geo-trip to the eastern plains and enjoying a last nice fall day. We both love cemetery caches, and TFTC!

Recently returned from an eleven state geocaching trek for the Geowoodstock 2018 GIGA and now on a six (new) state geocaching trek to visit my parents. It will continue into Europe shortly after I return from this trip as well. The geocaching has been fun, but now trying to catch up on logging each one. On this trip I planned several webcams, virtuals, earthcaches, traditionals and the oldest and second oldest geocache in the world. I can not forget all the challenges either...I have planned many days to get strings of them and several throughout the cities and states. So that leaves it open for several other kinds of caches to make those challenges. Happy to go home to visit my parents, especially to cache in other's backyards, so to speak. So far the weather has held up...nice this morning, let us hope it doesn't get to hot today... So far the geocaches have been in good shape or if an earthcache or virtual in nice places...thank you so much for the fun geocaching in these "new" caching states...
