It's common for people to fear rattlesnakes—after all, snake phobias are among the most prevalent in America. These creatures are often depicted as dangerous and menacing in the media, which adds to their mystique. But today, we encourage you to explore this beautiful area, find some caches, and discover more about these often-misunderstood animals!

Rattlesnakes shouldn't be feared because, while they are venomous, they typically avoid humans and only strike in self-defense. Their rattling sound serves as a warning, giving people a chance to move away. Most bites occur when the snake is accidentally stepped on or provoked. Additionally, with prompt medical treatment, the risk of serious harm from a rattlesnake bite is significantly reduced. Understanding and respecting their role in the ecosystem can help reduce fear and promote coexistence.

Fact #2:

Medicinal Value: Research on rattlesnake venom has led to significant medical advancements. Components of the venom are being studied for potential treatments for blood pressure regulation, blood clotting disorders, and even cancer!

When I saw the large rock pile on approach, I feared the worst. But the cache is in a logical spot and I found it within a few seconds. Great area for a walk! TFTC!

FTF. Did not see any snakes but sure heard the prairie dogs as I was walking by.
Was expecting something bigger. It is more like small size. But thanks anyway, that's better than a micro.
TFTC.
