Feel like going for a walk? A horseback ride? A bike ride? Well, if you take a bike, you may get a flat tire with the thorns along this trail.
Kane Ranch is one of the newer additions to the open spaces acquired by El Paso county. It is a 4-mile trail out in the plains east of Fountain. Not many people visit this area, so you will probably have the trail all to yourself! It is a lariat-shaped trail along the grasslands with views of the Spanish peaks and Sangre de Cristos to the south.
Beware of rattlesnakes, cacti and other prickly plants out here, Lots of sharp things that could hurt you!
At the posted coordinates, there is no physical cache. The coordinates will take you to a sign. In this sign, there is a map of the trail. This is what you will look at to find the 2nd stage.
Imagine a Cartesian coordinate system where the lower left corner of the paper map is (0,0). Using your measuring tape, find the objects at (9.5,13) where units are inches. The first object shown is where you will need to go to find stage 2.
Congratulations to Hartsdale for the FTF!
