Cache is an old chip tube along the “downhill” side of the road. That cache wasn't very "waterproof" so it became an old coffee can. Obviously that cache wasn't very muggle proof. Now it's a small, tucked safely away out of roaming muggles. Room to park right along side cache, but not very handicap accessible. Watch out for traffic! Can be busy in the morning and evening with people going and coming from work.
Cache is located just below the Welcome to Battlement Mesa Waterfall. Battlement Mesa was originally to be the EXXON company town. It was to house all the employees and overhead for the EXXON Shale Oil Project. On May 02, 1982, otherwise known as Black Sunday, EXXON shut down their project. The mesa was sold to Battlement Mesa Partners and then to Battlement Mesa Company. The mesa was advertised to retirees in AARP with the idea that it would make the ideal place to retire. The mesa started turning varying shades of silver, gray, purple and blue as the retirees started to flock to Western Colorado. As housing became scarce up valley, workers started moving to Parachute and Battlement Mesa in droves in order to find affordable housing. Now the mesa has a mix of retirees, blue-collar workers, kids, deer, elk and the occasional bear. Battlement Mesa is home to a world class golf course with a front and back 9, spectacular views of the Colorado River corridor and Roan Plateau. This cache is just one of several caches in the area.

Come visit Battlement Mesa and have a good time caching! Be sure and place the cache back north of the mowed area, under the rabbit brush, (but next to the post!) so it won't be destroyed by the brush hogs!

Congratulations to Bugz/Daisy for the FTF :0)

In the area visiting from Arizona, getting another Colorado DeLorme Challenge off my things to do list. I noticed how many of the caches are not very snow friendly. Thanks for the hide.
