This cache is for those who truly are looking for an adventure and have a little Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep blood in their veins.
This cache is a 35 mm film canister relatively well hidden on a narrow strip of land bordered on both sides by sheer cliffs and the Dolores River.
I'm certain there is more than one route to this cache, but it is a very difficult climb for those with experience in this terrain. It took me about 3 hours to reach, place the cache and return and I did it with out ropes. You will need to choose your route carefully.
The hint is a spoiler. Print it and take it with you to decode if you need to at the site. It would be bad to make the climb and not be able to log the cache.
Good luck and be careful.

I am staying out at my old place in Arriola for a few days and checked around for some lonely caches and this one caught my eye. I lived in the area for more than 15 years and had never been down to the river at this beautiful location. Except for having a pretty good ideal of the elevation gain to the cache I really didn't do much preparation. It looked like something I could do so I figured I would wing it as usual. After a bit of scouting I found what appeared to be an ok route. There are certainly plenty of possibilities but I was patient enough to find a route that worked without too much danger and found a large cairn when I reached the ridge. It was certainly quite a scramble with a number of detours and ups and downs but I did finally make it to ground zero with only a few scrapes and scratches. On one of my many rests on the way up I spotted a nice bighorn ram watching me from the distance. I didn't have my good camera because I was uncertain about the river crossing but I did get a distant shot with my cell phone. The coords were dead on for me so I spotted the cache quickly. Thanks to afudc for getting something back out here. I would really hate to make this trek and have nothing to sign. This was definitely a great location for a backcountry cache and is certainly one of my favorites. I really enjoyed the views of the river from both sides. Thanks for the challenge and thanks for all the fun. I left a gold dollar for the next adventurer.

Wow, that was probably the toughest climb (non-technical, of course) that I have ever done. It took me almost an hour just to decide how I wanted to attack it and where to cross the river. Luckily my chosen route up worked well, although I had some issues once I got on top. The views were great with the river on both sides.

I was unable to locate the original cache so placed a replacement with the CO's approval. Based on discussion with CO I believe that I placed my replacement in the exact place that he had originally used. CO gave me permission to log this as a find. This is find number 5,000. A worthy effort for a significant milestone.

Thanks for the challenging cache in such a tremendous area.
