This cache is the 4th in a series of 4x4 caches and is the easiest in the series. When the snow is gone a high clearance 2WD can drive right to the cache.(mid-August)
Take Hwy 40 NW thru the town of Empire and past the Mizpah Campground. Turn left on the Henderson Mine road and then take the Jones Pass road.

I wanted to place the cache at the Bobtail Mine site but since the pass is blocked by snow most of the year I took pity on the hikers. If the road is open by all means drive down the other side. It is a nice scenic drive. If the pass is blocked by snow you can hike over the snow block and down to the cache.

A great cache for introducing my friend to the game. She wants to return with trade items. We went after this one after hiking Mt. Nystrom.

Thanks for the nice cache. A large drift still blocks the pass, but that just means I got to take a longer hike. Lots of good swag in this Oldie but goodie

Couple of years ago, I wanted to find this but the snowbank stopped me. After finding the Bobtail Benchmark, at the top of the mountain, I really didn't have the get up and go to go anymore. But today, it was easy -- Denver Water had the road grader out making the road purrrrrty for their trucks. . .but a little less exciting for the ATV. I could sit here for hours and watch the view, but the thunder started rolling in.

Happy International Geocaching Day! Made a run up the canyon, hiked Butler Gulch, drove Jones Pass and found a bunch of great caches! My first time up to the pass and what incredible views! Very surprised that this one doesn't get more action during the summer, but maybe due to the lack of others around it. The ratings and road description are right on! Thanks!

Wow! This hadn't been found since 2007! I came up with my 2 1/2 year old and enjoyed a morning of hiking around. The cache is in great shape after all these years! Thanks!

Drove as far as we could today, but we were stopped by the snowfield. Wasn't prepared or dressed for a romp in the snow today!
