Letterbox Hybrid set near the Saddle Club Arena which hosts the local "Little Britches" youth rodeo. Letterbox stamp attached to cache, be sure to bring YOUR LB stamp!

Although the nearby arena hosts a variety of events, the most well-known is the local area Little Britches Rodeo held each summer. A little history to enhance your seek and find:

The National Little Britches Rodeo Association is one of the oldest, continuing youth rodeo associations in the world, with its membership ranging from kids ages 5-18 in 26 states across the nation, according to the NLBRA website.

In 1952, a group of rodeo enthusiasts held the first of what would become an annual rodeo for kids. The event—dubbed the Little Britches Rodeo—was held at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds in Littleton, Colorado, and was by all accounts a smashing success.

The Western Slope Little Britches Rodeo was organized in 1958 by Dr. Walter H. Simon and Webb Bryson of Cedaredge. Land was provided east of town by Harry Palmer for $1.00 a year and a rodeo arena was built. In September 1958, fifty-four boys and girls entered the first Western Slope Little Britches Rodeo. The Western Slope Little Britches continues to this day and consists of a rodeo, parade, car show, and Lion's Club barbecue in the park.  It holds the distinction of being the longest continuous youth rodeo in the world.

The original Little Britches rodeo developed into an annual event but was held at various locations on the front range until 1961, when a national convention was held in Denver. There were representatives on hand from several states and the meetings ended with a national youth rodeo association being established with its headquarters in Denver, of which the already established Western Slope Little Britches became a part.

It is suggested that the name used for that first youth rodeo in Littleton, was derived from the entertaining book Little Britches published 2 years earlier in 1950. This book is an account of author Ralph Moody’s early childhood in the Littleton area and includes his love of horses, ranching, and rodeo during the first decade of the twentieth century.  The autobiographical series he published during the 1950-60’s have become classics and are still found today in bookstores and libraries.

Remember the rubber stamp belongs to the letterbox hybrid, do not remove.

On our way to Phoenix for the holidays and as this cache is likely to be soon snowed in for the winter decided to recover the two TBs in it and move them to a warmer clime where they are more likely to be found and moved on. team kekj

In town for "Apple Fest", checked on cache, Dropped a Tbug and visited others.
Also did a "virtual grab" of - Dream Big (horseshoe) - as has been here for 4 months and will travel around untill someone grabs it as it may soon get snowed in and sit for the winter.

Fresh in from California with a whole passel of new Trackables (21) that we found in a TB hotel out there. ALL had been cooped up for a minimum of 62 days, some for 83, and a half dozen for more than 110 days! We promised the cache CO and the TB owners that we would travel them around a bit before dropping them in local caches - showing them the sites in the surrounding area of the Rocky Mountains and also to give them a taste of the history/geology and local geocaching. This is one of those Historical caches that we are way-pointing them too.

After work and a DNF in GJT met up with the Ms. and came up for a musical in "The Chapel" and now checking condition and presence of Tbug at this letterbox. For those owners of Tbugs that actually follow and READ the logs of their travels, this rodeo arena is the site of the longest running "Little Britches" rodeo in the world - see more in the cache description.

Have had a TB that is a literal horse shoe that have been wanting to drop at this cache for some time due to theme. Looking at job in area and took the time to drop it off, at same time realized that they have put up additional fence and locked gates so move the LB cache to nearby location with better access.
