I had this idea a decade ago that I would find and log all the virtual geocaches in Colorado. That was a really cool idea until I moved away from Colorado. This cache has been on my radar for 15 years. But it is about as far from civilization as a human can get. I did a lot of planning, assuming that I would need every bit of my 4WD, but it turned out, apart from the distance you need to travel, this is accessible by any family car. I started in Delta and drove the Delta/Nucla road intersecting Divide Road. One way, this was 51 miles on back roads, mostly dirt. But all the roads were in excellent shape. If you are familiar with driving Rampart Range Road west of Colorado Springs, it sort of reminded me of that. There is nothing to see anymore at the cache site, but I will say the drive produced some of the most amazing vistas in Colorado. And I have seen a few. This would be a great family outing. There are dozens of shady turnouts where you could dry camp. Highly recommended. Vort.

I hate to see lonely ghosts on my map, so I made a point of taking care of this one, even if the original focus of the virtual is no longer there. The previous night, I drove up onto the mesa and set up camp. I saw an owl and heard many coyotes. Thank you for giving me a reason to come out to this area.

I came from Wellington, CO to SW Colorado on a mission to find the four Virtual caches in this part of the state that I had not previously visited. I was successful in getting to each of them, and now have visited 162 of the 168 still-active Virtuals in Colorado. I hope to reach the other few this year. It's been an interesting quest, indeed.
As others have stated, it's too bad the sign is missing. I parked my ancient SUV at the coordinates. It then served as the point of interest for me, as shown in the attached image.
Our Virtuals are real treasures, and it's a shame when any one of them gets archived. Don't let it happen to this interesting "destination" Virtual, pausum. Thanks for keeping it active!

Spent the day riding in a new jeep that my muggle friend had just bought. This was on a fun road during our trip. The Sign is indeed long gone. Wish we could have known what occurred here. Thanks for placing this cache.
