Along the Colorado River Road, at Burns, take the Derby Mesa Loop that starts here: N 39° 52.580 / W106° 53.560; this road winds back through a few ranches.
When you reach a wye marked 'Stump Park': N39° 54.060 / W 106° 58.990, hang a right...and hang on, this is where the adventure begins.
From here you'll travel up a 6 mile 4x4 road, over hard scrabble, that will surely create excitement. A mile up the 4x4 road, just inside the National Forest boundry, there's a campsite. I stayed there for the night and in the morning took the dirt bike the next 5 miles to the trailhead.
From the Stump Park Trailhead: N 39° 56.857 / W 107° 03.943, there's a moderate hike of about a mile to the cache where the altitude is just over 10,000 ft., a 3500 ft. elevation gain from the river at Burns.
The cache container is a camoed small/regular placed in a pile of rocks atop a hill.
The view of the Indian Cliffs, Flat Top Mountain and Derby Peak from here make it all worth while.
