OK OK so you went to check out the caches hidden at the coke ovens - you know the ones I mean . . called BLM Copper Smelter/Charcoal Kiln, Helter Smelter, and Coke Ovens. After having a buncha fun and probably finding what you were looking for . . . you hop into your vehicle and leave.
BUT WAIT!

We found this several years ago. It sits a distance away from the the kilns but it HAS to be connected with the kilns you just visited because it is made of the same rocks and constructed the same way . . . well sorta kinda. I never could see any signs of fire being inside so I have no idea what it was . . . unless it was some kind of structure to keep things cold! (It is said that at the turn of the century, there were 100 men working at the kilns and if you look around closely at the terrain and hike a ways from the ovens, you will find signs of all kinds of old buildings, corrals, old dumps etc.)

When we first spotted this "sort of a coke oven but isn't" it was in as good of shape as the other 4 you just visited. When I went there today, it has collapsed some on one side. Exploring, you can look down into it, or you can walk around and look up at it.

Most folks haven't a clue that it even exists. If anyone finding it knows what it is, I hope they would let us all know, when they post their find.

The cache is in an ice cream bucket and placed inside a plastic sack. The cache is not out in the open. Inside the ice cream bucket . . (Sorry the ice cream is all gone. . . ) there is a brand new in the box Leaning Tree Mug for the first to find, along with:

* A super Bubble Pop Computer CD game
* An Over the Hill Binky
* TY Baby Beanie Skunk (McDonalds)
* Pet Izit
* Long lime-green keychain
* 100% NRA Patch
* Deck of Cards
* Log book with a pencil.

Found it! Definitely not anywhere where we were looking — but we branched out after 20 minutes looking in the cold wind and I finally found it! I agree this “has to be” but no idea! Ha! It’s definitely getting more unstable with time!

Thank you so much for your post and I'm so sorry the ants chased you away. That is a bummer.

Walked over to this one and took some pictures of a rabbit down in the hole and then noticed there were biting ants EVERYWHERE! We had our 3 year old with us and didn't get a chance to even look for the cache because of the ants. Probably wouldn't have even looked if we didn't have our 3 year old. We noticed ants on the road when getting out of the car.

So is the cache there or is it in process of being replaced? I stopped by and didn't find any sign of a cache.
