This micro (bison tube) cache is located at approx 8900 feet -- in the Hinman Park Fire area. It's accessable from a couple different directions, but is on FS Rd 409.
We were in side-by-sides and came off the top of Farwell Mountain, but this cache is probably more easily accessible from Seed House road and the other end of FS rd 409.
The Hinman Park Fire ravished this area in the summer and fall of 2002 beginning in July from a lightning strike. It continued to burn until snow finally extinguished it late that fall.
We stopped for lunch on this day and my nephew and I found a great place for this micro cache -- BYOP! He's just learning to read the GPS coordinates and is loving hiding caches!
It MAY be accessible in the winter -- on snowmachines of course -- but we aren't positive, so we'll be interested to see if anyone logs it in the winter. It is NOT on the ground, but it still may be covered in deep snow!
