It's a beautiful spot and I'm glad we made the effort to get there. You can't drive all the way to the cache any more. The road is closed at N39 32.966 W105 51.877 but it's a nice walk from there. TFTC

Estes01 says we could have driven all the way to the cache. Guess I should do a little more research when scoping out possible caches. But if we'd driven, we would have missed some interesting sights related to the mining operation. And the exercise was good for us

Well this was an unexpected adventure. Heading back from doing Aunt Dizzy's Breckenridge Overlook with ernie66 and we decided to take a detour to get this cache that hasn't been found in almost 4 years! Not sure where this secret road is…we tried to find it, but no luck. Anyway, we stopped within a few hundred feet of the mine and just hiked up to the cache. What an interesting area. Thank you for bringing us up there.

What a great spot. I tried to find the road in from the cache site but couldn't seem to locate it. I'll be sure to come back here on a sunny day when everything is a little more green. TFTC!

Great cache! Can't believe nobody had found this in almost a year. But at the same time, this cache would have been completely under snow just a short while ago. Drove up as far as possible and hiked up past the abandoned mine. Would liked to have followed the main road but there was a water obstacle it seemed best not to cross. Took the TB that had been up there almost a year. Just love this cache and location. Thanks!

Gave this the old college try. We made a navigational decission error after hitting Yogi Bear's Hotel cache. We ended up on the wrong side of a ridge. Being on foot we decided to head back down and find some food. This is a beautiful area and may require a second try. That could mean firing up the 4x4 to get closer next time.

Got within 0.10mi but needed to go straight up from mine from where we were and with the little bit of snow we werent up for it.

11:00 Well, that's one marked off my "To Do" list. In from Dallas for vacation, and this was one of our main objectives. First noticed it a year ago because it fills a grid for the Texas 81 (Fizzy) Challenge. Didn't have a chance to hunt it then, but made sure we planned around it this trip. It did not disappoint.
Started at Trailhead parking N39 33.853 W105 51.604 (elev 10,600) at 08:40. About 1.5 miles to the cache - as the crow flies. It was a beautiful walk, as the aspen were turning. Took several pictures along the way. Will upload when we return home.
Definitely took the 4.5 Terrain approach and made the climb up the face from the NW. Crested the hill (elev 11,700) at 10:50. Saw several deer drinking at the eastern lake. Snapped a few pics as they bounded off. Took in the beauty of the place before looking for the cache. Found it a few minutes later.
SL and snapped a few celebratory pics. T-Red Jeep TB, L-Be a Pepper TB, celebrating all things done without shortcuts - a fitting tribute to this cache. Returned via the far easier east trail. Arrived back at the parking spot at 13:15. It was a 6.4 miles total roundtrip (including a couple of detours). Thanks for a memorable hike - and the cache.
