The Games were the most watched Olympics in history, attracting 4.7 billion viewers worldwide and landed on Guinness World Records. The event was also the second most expensive Olympic Games ever held (after Sochi 2014), reaching a total cost of US $40 billion and widely considered as the most successful of all time.

The opening ceremony was lauded by spectators and numerous international presses as spectacular and spellbinding and accounted by people throughout the world as "the greatest ever".

There were 43 world records and 132 Olympic records set at the 2008 Summer Olympics. An unprecedented 86 countries won at least one medal during the Games. Chinese athletes won the most gold medals with 48, and with 98 medals in total became only the 7th different Olympic team to top an overall medal tally. The United States won the most total medals with 111, and placed second in the gold medal tally followed by Russia.

Finally out here with my bike so I hit a couple trails and picked up some smileys. Brief visit to Denver and got out before the storm. Stamped log. So many caches, so little time.
