Colorado Spirit Quest #505 - Woodlawn Cemetery

From Salida take New Street south to County Road 107.

I found one source that listed the name of this cemetery as Woodland instead of Woodlawn. The first burials were in 1883, but I haven’t been able to find much other information on this cemetery. If anyone has information please include it in your log and I will update the description. When I visited this cemetery the gate was closed and the only way to enter seemed to be to climb over the fence or gate. You do not have to enter the cemetery to retrieve this cache.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado. This series will introduce you to many of them.

The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task and will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers willing to place these caches.

After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.
