Scenic view  Cliff / falling rocks  Medium hike (1km-10km)

Small cache container at the top of Mt. Glennon. Awesome views in every direction!

Two rocks cover the cache container. Please replace the cache as you found it. Thanks!

There was a wild fire on Mt. Glennon this week that burned approximately 100 acres over a three day period (8/2/10-8/4/10). While some places are totally scorched, other parts weren't affected at all. There are lots of dead trees and ash in the burn area...but this cache is farther to the north and close to the top of the ridge. While you're nearby, you might want to look for Flat Road Up a Steep Hill and the KK1849 benchmark. There's also a non-geocache log at a point a little north of the benchmark where you can record your ascent. The cache container is a small Lock-n-Lock container big enough for a log book, a pencil and a few small items. When placed, it contained an emergency Jefferson County Open Space dog leash, a lanyard (that would work well for a GPS), and a geocoin that needs to be moved along. There's also an unactivated travelbug as the FTF prize.

Congrats to outdrlvr201 for claiming the FTF!

Icezebra11 and I came to Denver this morning to play through the stages of the marvelous new virtual cache, Ordinary Wizarding Levels (O.W.L.s). We were finished with the virtual by late morning and decided to come to Green Mountain and Mt. Glennon for an afternoon of cache-finding before heading north to our homes in the Fort Collins area. It was a wonderfully warm mid-January day, and we had a delightful time. Mt. Glennon 360 was one of four caches we went after and signed logs for while we were on the mountain. It was a memorable bushwhacking hike that I will always recall positively. Thanks for Mt. Glennon 360, Morrison Hiker. Yes, the views through all 360 degrees from the top ridge are superb!

Denali41 and I drove down from the Ft Collins area to find some caches around Denver. We first spent a few hours driving around the city collecting information for the new O.W.L. virtual cache. After finishing that one, we headed for Green Mountain to stretch our legs and pursue Jurassic Box. After that warm-up we drove over to Glennon to get some more exercise. This was the third of the four caches we got in the area. We hiked up to the top of the ridge from the Easter cache and eventually made our way to GZ. It was a fun scramble. Found the cache and signed the log. Thanks MorrisonHiker!!!

Fantastic views and great place for a geocache! Loki enjoyed the off-leash romp to this spot (I do have a remote-controlled shock/vibration collar to help keep him close).
