Say Farewell to the Annual Grand Lake Geocaching Campout!

From 2014-2019 the geocaching community in Colorado enjoyed a very awesome campout event on the last weekend in July.  Geocaching Colorado and IMYY4U2 hosted the event for the first few years, and then as IMYY4U2 & MikeAndJuli stepped out of the the GCCO board they continued the campout tradition as the Grand Lake Campout Committee.

In 2020, COVID-19 and wildfires postponed the Grand Lake Campout.  This carried through 2021 as the location of the campout was closed to reservations.  Now as the world is recovering from COVID-19, MikeAndJuli and IMYY4U2 made the decision to not bring back the annual campout event.   

However, the Campout Committee has always been about giving back everything that was put into the campout.  Registration fees and raffle tickets and donations made it possible for us to get some really cool prizes to give back to the attendees of the event.  The thing is, we still have lots of prizes and goodies that would have been part of the next campout. 

There is only one thing to do - host a farewell event to give these goodies back to the geocaching community one last time!  

This is a family-friendly event.  Please bring the kiddos, the muggle spouses, cousins, and even your goofy uncle(s)!

There will Brats and Dogs and Brauts, just like at the campout!  You are welcome to bring a side dish, obviously this is not a requirement.  Bring your own choice of beverage, as well!

Activities available:

• Putting Green

• Horseshoe Pits

• Swimming Pool

If you are going to participate in any of the activities, please bring your own swimsuit, towel(s), sunscreen, etc.

          

Timeline:

We Havent actually figured that out yet.  Don't show up earlier than 11:00AM, and we will be doing stuff all day.  There will be a big giveaway around 1:00PM.  Specifics are subject to change, please log your will attend to stay updated on the schedule for the day!

We are planning to attend. This is the weekend before we travel to Abbottsford for GeoWoodstock that has been posponed for 2 yrs also.

I would really like to attend this event. It’s sad to realize how much has changed since 2019 in many ways. The campout was always a highlight of my summer.

I was a new geocacher when covid cancelled the campout and I was so bummed. But I am coming to this event, and even just made my own personal camping reservations since I was going to be going to the mountains on Aug 7 already, and am not going to drive all the way home in between my outings.
