Cowboy came riding into Mancos slung over his saddle with his head laying on his horse's neck. Cowboy's arm was wrapped around his stomach. Cowboy had a severe case of food poisoning severe stomach cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea, lasting several days. Cowboy thought maybe the bowl of chili he ate down at the Trapper's camp may have been the cause of his sickness.

Cowboy turned his horse to head north to reach El Mercado de P&D. He heard they had an apothecary who could whip up a batch of herbs and minerals to cure his ailment. Cowboy could barely walk to the shop where there were lots of bottles, pots, and baskets with strange foul-smelling mixtures of plants or magic potions. A lady wearing a long white medical smock looked up and said, "Son, you look like Hell". Cowboy explained to her what his symptoms were and what he thinks caused them. The lady said "I got just the stuff that will fix you up. But after you take it the mix of herbs will clean your system from head to toe so you better lay up near the river for a day or two. You will be severely dehydrated so drink lots of water". Cowboy paid and went to find a location to make camp.
