In August 1873, Joseph Jones was the first settler in what is now called "Jones Park". This is where he proposes to keep a hotel and restaurant for the convenience of persons ascending Pikes Peak. When Jones died in September 1882, he left heirs and relatives his estate of a 160-acres. Bear Creek Inn, became the largest and most important building in Jones Park.
This sign (arrow) on a tree showed the way to the Inn. Also, If you look around you can see old wire fencing coming out of the middle of the 100+ year old trees. My GPS bounced alot in the trees, but if you look for "A Sign of the Times" and turn to your geo-caching skills, you will find!

I didn't see any barbed wire but did see a sign in a tree pointing west and some rocks laid out in a pattern. This would've been a cool place to visit back in the day. Thanks for the adventure in time!

Thanks for the fun cache! The family and I were hiking to Jones Park via 7 Bridges Trail. Stopped at as many caches as we could along the way. I went at this one solo as the new trail doesn't seem to go this way anymore. I took a much more direct route than I should have and did get my feet a bit wet in a spot. But the cache made up for it! How cute! Signed and stamped the log. All is well here! Loved the pictures and history!

Was wondering why there would be a direction sign here. Originally Bear Creek trail was the road in to Jone's Park with no turn offs. If you were on the road and found this sign there would be no reason for a direction, just keep going on the road! Hopefuly there will still be a way to this location as I understand Bear Creek trail is being rerouted and will bypass Jone's Park. Not sure about 7 Brodges trail. I understand it may be closed also but they are presently replacing some of the bridges. Great location for a cache, helps keep the history alive. Thanks.

Awesome. Wish we could have been here while the cabins were occupied. There is not much left of them. Thanks for bringing us up here and showing us this site. Nice hide!
