One of a series of caches recognizing figures from Pueblo's early days.

Father Charles M Pinto, SJ, a native of Italy, was assigned as the first resident priest of the newly formed Pueblo Catholic parish in 1872. A year later, Father Pinto had completed St. Ignatius Church, at 13th and West streets. He also was instrumental in bringing from Denver the Sisters of Loretto who opened Loretto Academy in 1875 and operated it until 1925. Later he went to El Paso, Texas, where he supervised the building of at least two more churches; while he was pastor in El Paso, he also made trips to Carlsbad (then called Eddy) New Mexico to serve the needs of Catholics there.

Most of the information to create this series came from the following three books: Pueblo, an Illustrated History by Eleanor Fry & Ione Miller. 2001. Heritage Media Corp. Carlsbad, CA Pueblo, a Pictorial History by Joanne West Dodds. 1982. The Donning Company/Publishers. Norfolk, VA They All Came to Pueblo: a Social History by Joanne West Dodds. 1994. The Donning Company/Publishers. Virginia Beach, VA

At least as of today, the homeless settlement is at the bottom of the hill. There is no need to go down there for the cache.

New container, new log.

Looks like there's been some burning in this area--maybe the burn exposed the cache. Replaced it very close by.

Muggled? There was a pile of rocks that looked like they could have been hiding the cache but there was nothing there anymore
