Nugget Hill is an unmarked 4x4 trail in the Lefthand canyon area. DO NOT GO ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a very steep and loose obstacle that will require an experienced spotter, or you could (and probably WOULD) tumble off the side!
Unless you have a highly capable off-road vehicle, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THIS TRAIL!!!!! It is a steep hike, but could be done on foot. It's 4 miles round trip. The views at the top are spectacular!

Disclaimer: You need to decide for yourself if it is safe to make the trip in your vehicle and if you have any doubts, don't do it.

It's hard to believe some parts of this road were ever drivable, even before the flooding. Well, it's certainly not passable now, at least not the way I went. There are a couple large trees blocking most of the trail, to start. But it was great for hiking. A couple of people walking dogs exited the path just as I was parking. Other than that, I had the whole hike to myself.

Passed a couple of sleds near the top of Nugget Hill. No idea what they're doing up here. I decided I would walk them down, either to the saddle where the trails meet or to my car if I was feeling adventurous, but I totally forgot to pick them up while walking back. Oh well. There's a pair of plastic sleds in good shape up there, if anybody is interested.

Great views from the top! The north side of the hill, where this cache is located, still has a fair bit of snow remaining despite the extended warm spell we've been in. I was worried about finding the cache, but it was easily accessible. There's some nice swag inside. I took the presidential trivia cards and left some Guatemalan quetzales.

I like to visit lonely hard to reach caches and this one fits the bill! The road is motorcycle only after the floods of 2 years ago so we attempted the approach on mountain bike. We made it about half way with a lot of pushing before ditching the bikes in a bush and continuing on foot. Bike shoes and spandex are not my preferred bushwacking clothes but eventually we made the summit! We made quick work of locating the cache, everything is in perfect condition, took nothing, left nothing, signed the log and hiked back down to our bikes. The decent on bike was easier but still quite challenging due to the ruts and loose rocks. All in all a fun trip and a great location. Thanks!

Back in the 1970's we used to go up to Nugget Hill fairly regularly. I decided today I would finally give it another try. I persuaded CNC to head up with me and it was a much needed adventure that proved to be successful. Cache is in perfect condition and coords were right on. Thanks for the incentive to get back up on this mountain!

I recently visited with Red Ruby at an Event, and told her that Nugget Hill was at the top of my cache-finding priority list. Today was the day, for this one as well as for a few other great caches in the broad vicinity. But this was "numero uno" for me on this winter day. The hike was quite a bit tougher than I had anticipated, but my puppy Teewinot was in her glory all the way...up and down! Red Ruby, you remember her exuberance. Well, she celebrated you today. Several times she levitated as she "yipped" with the delight of being out in the backcountry. I, on the other hand, was suffering a bit on this one because of the unrelenting gradient. But I hiked in from the south, rather than on the 4WD trail system. That may have been a mistake--taking the "shorter" route. But it all worked out, and I'm very happy to claim STF on this wonderful cache, 16 months after the "first". And the views were remarkable, as will be the memories! Thank you for all of this!

I've been watching this for a couple of weeks and finally found time to go.
Trail was right where my old map said it would be, and it was about 5 miles round trip.
Looked like mostly ATVs and bikes use the trail. No-one on the trail today.
Last time I was around here was for a N0WAE cache.

Cache was within 10 ft of coords. Signed log and left a wood nickel.
Beautiful spot and good workout. thanks
