On Mt. Baldy in Breckenridge is an old mine called the Tommy Mine.
At Boreas Pass and Golden View Rd there is a dirt road that heads up Mt. Baldy. You can hike this up to old Tommy Mine. It is a 2 hour hike up good road to the top. To make life easier, you can drive a truck (better with 4wd) up to the very top. It has switchbacks and its pretty moderate driving. Make sure you have a full tank of gas. The slope makes the car think the gas tank is empty!! Our family drove up past the old original mine structure (large wooden shaft structure). You will have one of the best views of 10 mile range and Breckenridge. The cache is hidden at a small wooden entrance to an old mine shaft. It is NOT at the large original mine shaft structure. The mine entrance we hid it at only comes about a foot or two off the ground. Only 3 sides of the wooden shaft entrance are left.

Made the hike up after we visited the sallie mine, true romance, Iowa, tommie and now Carbondale. Container bad shape. No log. Well worth the trip. Tired now and loved the views.

Cache is still there but was completely filled with water and most contents spoiled.

I can't believe no one has found this for over two years! Dianne and I grabbed this on the way down from hiking to the summit of Bald Mountain A (13,684 ft) With the coordinates and hint this was a very quick grab. Unfortunately, the container has become brittle and is leaking. The log sheet is sopping wet as are most on the contents. TN LN TFTC!

A cache with a view. The lid has a crack and there was standing water inside with a damp log. TFTC

Hiked up to this hilltop yesterday but didn't know there was a cache up here.... after getting back to the condo I thought to look on geocaching and lo and behold... a reason to climb up the hill AGAIN. Nice exercise and I found more than one or half a dozen ways to make it to the top. Beautiful views and interesting mine sites. The pen in the cache was so cold it didn't work so I had to use a crayon. Not the best signature I've done, but there it is. Great day!
