Shiver me timbers and a mighty yo ho ho! This Pirate event was indeed pirated... and we showed ourselves to be truly flexible in that we had an amazing adventure in spite of the adversity that befell. Highest kudos to our fearless Captain for his creativity and ingenuity during the event...

We had a fantastic time all weekend. Just so folks know what happened on the pontoon boats, here's our story from boat#1 (AKA the USS Looks Guilty Of Something). While we were on the pontoon boats weighing anchor near the event, we were discussing alternatives to landing (since the boat owners didnt want us to land). Suddenly the owner of the marina came screaming up to our boat as if he were either a drunken speedboat pilot or the coast guard witnessing a pirate attack. Turns out he was very angry at us for not breaking any of his rules, but appearing as if we could. Even better, he continued to be angry with us after he confirmed we hadn't broken any rules and we weren't planning on doing so. We decided he needed an earful, and we didn't need to be treated as guilty parties in his episode of 'Lake Granby Mall Cop' - so we went back to the marina to give him a piece of our mind.

Okay - back to this event itself. The host of the event was unfortunately marooned on a rented pontoon boat (wait isn't that the opposite of marooned? Would that be **teal**ed?). He was understanding of the marina's rules that ended up limiting this event, and made excellent alternative plans to continue the fun! I hear someone actually swam from the shore to the boats with a dry bag in order to get the log and prizes between the sea-voyagers and the land-lubbers. What a brave soul - considering there was a shark named Jim flying through the waters. We greatly appreciate the host for being creative in his methods and flexible with the unforeseen circumstances. You rock, matey!

Thanks for the event, and thanks for the awesome memories! We are excited to see what comes at us next year...

YAR!!!

I sort of attended this one, guess as much as anyone was able to. Thank you for organizing it and had a great time over the entire weekend.

We arrived on Gull Island after an uneventful (ha ha - didn't really mean that...) crossing, and then had to watch so many of our friends get turned back by the Beacon Landing pirates. So sorry we couldn't all get ashore... The return trip was a little more interesting with the wind coming up and a little chop developing. Thanks for all the work that went into arranging this, and rearranging it multiple times as the venue coordinates changed. Shadow Mountain Lake next year??
