The cache is near Dry Mesa dinosaur quarry in the Uncompahgre National Forrest SW of Delta CO.

Vivian Jones first discovered dinosaur bones at this site in the early 1970s.  The bones Vivian found turned out to be the first bones of Supersaurus Vivianae ever discovered.  The Dry Mesa quarry was active on and off from the 1970s until 2000.

The road to this site ends at the camp ground that the quarry excavators used while working at this site.  You will love the picnic tables here.  Follow the forrest service signs for a short 1/4 mile hike to dinosaur quarry.  The veiws of the upper Escalante Canyon from the quarry are spectacular.

A high clearance vehicle is requied to get to this site and in wet weather a four wheel drive is needed.

The Geocache is located about 250 feet ENE and up the the hill from the camp ground.  There are some rock outcroppings with burrows weathered out underneath them in the area.

This is a remote area but the N.F.S. publishes a great map of the Uncompahgre National Forrest.
