Native American Tribe Series.
Chatot

Related to the Choctaw, this band was living south of Fort St. Louis in Mobile Bay, Alabama in 1709 when French colonizer, Sieur de Bienville wanted to establish a settlement in the area. The Chatot spoke both the French and Choctaw languages.
Another band by the same name also lived in the upper Apalachicola River and Chipola River basins in Florida. This group a Muskogean language, which may have been the same as that of the Pensacola tribe. By 1675, the Spanish had established several missions for the Chatot.

BugRanger and I are heading back to Estes Park after a short geo-trip, trying to make the most out of the last days of autumn. I'm not a fan of cut-and-paste logs, but sometimes they're necessary. I'll add specific notes where appropriate. TFTC!

I am visiting my daughter again here in this great state, and I just had to go on a power run once more. Thank you to all of the CO's that placed these caches out here. I certainly love visiting these remote areas as one can only wonder the stories of these places from long ago. I found this one in good shape. TFTC
