Drive past the first guard shack you see and turn onto the second road to your left, where you can park at Haney Park. From there, follow your GPSr up the side of the mountain, where you can pick your own trail up.
Watch out for snakes, loose rocks, and cacti.
Mountain lions are known to be in the area, but they are reclusive, and therefore not a big threat during the day.
Great view from the cache. Original contents include a lot of Rottweiler and otherwise canine items.

The bird call travel bug broke loose off its dog tag, and we had to replace it with a plastic "R" magnet. If you pick up the dog tag, please pick up the green bird call as well and pass it along.

Inside the cache, there is a cylindrical container that has several more alphabet letters in it. If you would please take one letter when you visit the cache, and then post it in your online log, then we can try to make words of out the letters of various visitors.

Also note: if you're in for a longer and prettier hike, the entrance to Roxborough State Park is just before the first guard shack. Just follow the signs. It has beautiful views, and several remnants of Colorado's colorful history in the old cabins and rock formations.

Be aware that this is very near a residential area. Please be courteous to private property, and be discreet at the cache site.

You know you're about at the right height on the mountain when you are level with the American flag (which should be to your left going up).

Youza! Was that I tough hike up. I thought I'd be less conspicuous if I went north where I found a trail sign for the Dakota Ridge trail. Don't go this way. You go up then way down into a ditch then waaaaaay back up again still past back yards because of the thick scrub oak. I finally pushed my way through it then more up. I finally saw the light of the ridge & the last 200' was obvious.
I'm still not sure what I'm supposed to do at the guard stop so I just blow through on the resident side since there's no gate. So many construction workers going through too.

Wow, last found almost two years ago. Was skeptical about it being here. Found it pretty quickly on this hot, and beautiful day.

The lid was off, and rodents had some good chew toys. Mostly targeted cache to rescue the trackable, but the trackable was missing. Rodents or muggle?

Everything inside soaked, but sign-able. Left the wetter stuff outside log ziploc, and replaced lid tight. Left rodent "chew toys" outside of cache to hopefully keep them from chewing lid.

Thanks The Roxys! Logged The Roxy Rendezvous from a seventh galaxy using c:geo!

Found pretty quickly after arriving at ground zero. Signed the log and dropped a trackable. Dedicating this find to my own Rottweiler, Lola (1995-2007). TFTC:-)

This was great. Lived the interesting trinkets. We left two and took one. Dorothy reminds us all there is no place like home, and this is where we live!
Eureka! We found our very first ever geo cache.

This looked like quite a trek, so sent the kids up, they found it, didn't sign anything, and didn't have anything to trade, but view was spectacular.

Found it at 1106.
This was a fabulous cache, the last hunt in several hours of caching before I had to actually go do something productive.
I was a little confused by the written directions. I saw the guard shack and all, but I think I wound up parking in the wrong place and taking the hard way there. It was quite a scramble, worthy of at least a 3-star terrain rating, but there were great views up top.
Once I was at GZ, though, the cache was out in the open, and I spotted it right away. The hinge on the container was broken, but the contents are dry and doing just fine. Unfortunately, there was no log inside the cache. Looking at the image gallery online, just now, I'm sure I didn't see that nice "Rottweiler" logbook. Had I known what it looked like, I might have searched the area to see if it was dropped somewhere. As it was, I just signed and dated the back of the single Geocaching sheet inside the cache container. There was still some swag inside, and I took an orange letter "L".
