This is the twelfth in a series of 4x4 caches that offer the unusual, a challenge and/or scenic vistas. This one gives you all three!

The Wise Mt. cabin is a fully stocked 'emergency cabin' that is open to the public. The rules are similar to Geocaching... Sign the guest logbook and if you take or consume anything then replace it with something of equal value.

Access routes to Wise Mountain are all high moderate in difficulty with conditions ranging from steep & narrow to steep and loose. You can take the North Fork Swan River road, the Saints John road or the Deer Creek road to the cache. CA4WDCI road rating of 6 to 7

Found it. There is a really cool pirate skull bandana! We did not take it, so it's still there. We snagged the Friends geotracker. How cool. Thanks for a great hide.

forgot to log this cache! Was out jeeping with Team Red Rubicon and we stopped at the cabin. Not sure I'd spend a winter in this without some serious upgrades... I took the heavily worn American Flag off the side of the cabin and will give to my scout troop to retire on our November Campout.

There was still another American Flag on the building, but it was also in bad shape... I left it just so it had one on it!

Out caching and Jeeping with Team Red Rubicon again. After Red Cone, and the ascent on Radical Hill, we went to the Mt. Wise cabin for a stay. It's actually in much better shape than I was expecting. I still wouldn't want to spend the night there though....that wind is brutal during the day - I imagine it's even worse (and colder) at night.

Found the cache in good shape, even after all these years.

So excited to find this. The cabin was surrounded by 20plus goats, and two sets of twin babies. We watched them for about 20 minutes before we got out of the jeep. I was afraid they would charge us wth so many babies in the group. The goats were kind enough to let me through and find the cache.
I took a train car and a CITO container. Not sure what that is, but it said to move it to another cache so I will. :) I left a pirate bandana and a puzzle.TFTC
