This morning a friend suggested a hike up Palisade Peak. And I thought, What a great day and locction to place a cache! So I was IN.

I've been up Palisade before, but not on the trail; didn't know there was a trail to the top. The trailhead is not marked, but the waypoint should get you close. Parking was a little below, but looked like you could park closer as well. It's quite a drive up there for sure, but very doable in any vehicle.

Some parts of the trail higher up are a bit hard to follow, but there are a fair amount of cairns. It's a little over one mile. Once you arrive at the top, there are two outcroppings that could claim being the official top. I placed the cache more or less in between.

There is a small outcropping where I placed the cache. It's down low and covered with a rock. See photo of location.

Obviously this cache is in the fire zone, and may be for a period of time. So I will disable it for now. Snowtop Drive is the road to the trailhead, actually.

We are working structure protection on the fire near the fire station below this cache. Last night we worked on the hill that this cache is on. It is not looking good for this cache. Please see the pictures I got from infront of the fire station. If we are able to hike up there I will try and rescue this cache.
