Cowboy and his wife, Deborah Ann owned a small herd of beef cows that were grazing in the high pastures above Dolores. Winter was approaching and the cattle had to come down out of the high country to find winter pasture at a lower elevation. The herd was rounded up and Cowboy, Deb, a couple of other wranglers, and their two Border Collies, Banjo and Tahoe, were coming off the cliff above Dolores. About halfway down a mountain lion was perched on a large rock overlooking the herd. The cows became restless, mooing, and looked as if they were about to stampede or go over the side of the cliffs. That is when Cowboy whistled and the two Border Collies sensed the danger and sprung into action running toward the lion. No lion wants to take on two dogs and it made a hasty retreat up the side of the cliff and out of sight. Deb praised the two dogs and promised to make their favorite meal for them at dinner....scrambled eggs and chicken bits. The herd was safely moved to a better pasture.
You may need tweezers or needle nose pliers to remove the log.
