We hid this cache just before thunder and lightning rolled in. Our picnic and hike plan was spoiled, but everyone had fun with the cache!

This is a beautiful campsite and picnic spot just off the trail to Red Lake. An old fire ring (25+ years ago?) and a clearing would be a great camping spot. Look for a rocky outcrop with a marker to find this cool location where the La Manga Creek and Elk Creek join.

Found after a very nice hike up to Red Lake & back. My awesome muggle girlfriend & I were staying down by the Conejos river and wanted to go on a day hike, so I randomly picked this one. It turned out to be a great choice. The lake and surrounding scenery was just beautiful. On the way down, my girlfriend, good sport that she is, took a break on the trail while I went to search. Big thanks to Aardvark for the corrected coords, as they led me right to the cache with the fire ring close by. Everything was in great shape after two winters out here. Mosquitos were very active today so after doing the necessary paperwork I packed everything up and got out of there fairly quickly. Really enjoyed today's hike. Thanks for placing a cache along the trail!

(FTF) Was able to locate the replacement cache that was left 250 feet away from ground zero, between the 2 creeks as they came together. However, there was no camp site or fire ring so I continued looking. I walked up the bank west of the creeks and there was the camp site and fire ring with the original cache hidden in some rocks. This one contained some trade items with the original dated log that I was able to be the first to find.

The original cache is located at: N 37 05.558, W 106 27.131 - about 150 feet south of ground zero (but the trees were causing my gps to bounce around).

Note: the cache is not between the creeks or close by, it is up the bank west of the creeks near a level camp site and fire ring.

Thanks for the hide!

It was nice to find the spot where the 2 creeks merged.

Wow! FTF 775. It took two of us two hours of careful searching to find this cache. We resorted to the description which did not match the coordinates given. without the description and stubbornness of Enabler we would not have found this. All I can say is use the description which will take you about 250 feet down the East Fork trail.
Nice hike though. Got a nice close up of a Weasel which seemed to enjoy watching us, probably more our geo mini dachshund , Tinker. Would have trekked up to Red Lake but spent too much time searching for the cache.
