Thomas C. Bergen took up the first squatter's claim here, June, 1859. On this spot he completed his first log cabin on July 4, 1859. "Bergen's Ranch" became a famous way station on the stagecoach and wagon road to the mines. The ground aquired for Denver Mountain Parks system on October 13, 1915.

This park was the original mountain park, but was later expanded to across the road. I still use it because there are less folks and I love my serenity.

Hint throws you for a loop so I could see how this would be challenging in the snow. But it's nearby and an easy find in the summer. Nice park, nice cache.
