Take a fairly easy hike (less than half a mile) on the Acorn Creek Trail to reach the cache. The views of the Gore Range to the west are amazing. When the cache was placed the area was thick with wildflowers, especially Columbines.
The cache is on the SOUTH side of the creek. I'm curious if the creek flows until winter.
After finding the cache continue up the trail. The higher you go the bigger the views become.
Directions: From HWY 9 approximately 10 miles north of Silverthorne turn right onto CR 2400 (Ute Park Rd, not Ute Pass Rd). At the first junction, continue left following the trailhead sign. Then turn right onto FDR 2402 (Rodeo Dr) and travel approximately 0.6 miles to the trailhead/parking lot on the left.

CONGRATULATIONS TO SASSYDIL AND ANIMJASON FOR THE FTF!

Always fun to find a cache that hasn't been logged in several years. The cache is in great condition and ready to be found by the next geocacher. A favorite vote.

TFTC, SL We were following the footsteps of Youkfish who found the 5 caches yesterday, 2 at Ute pass & 3 at Acorn creek. We hiked from Ute Pass to Acorn Creek about 25 years ago. This time we drove between the two!

I enjoyed this nice hike and cache after a meeting in Breckenridge and on my way north. Nobody else around to enjoy the great views with me. Circled this one a little bit before getting to the right spot. Cheers!

Had a nice hike with the geodogs today. Lots of beautiful purple lupines along the trail. TFTC!

Found it! TFTF. Family find with two girls, 12 and 10. We didn't know about this trail and stopped at the wrong lot first. But we were thrilled with the short hike. We will return when the leaves have changed for a longer hike. Beautiful!

We are so pleased that you showed us this trail. We had an older gentleman with us who loves to be outside but is not able to hike very far or on tough terrain. This was a great place for us to be! And it was his birthday! Thanks again for the cache!
