This cache is located just above tree line on the Butler Gulch trail. There is a significant elevation gain from a lower cache on the same trail, but it is worth the effort.
The views and wildflowers on this hike are well worth the trouble. CACHE is a green tupperware container with black lid, located in a rock pile just as the trail peaks into an open meadow. There is a near by flat top rock for a rest or lunch. Further on there are ruins to explore. Bring a camera and lunch.
Cache is at 11509' about 1.31m from 1st parking area. Make it a 2fer and pick up "The Butler Did it" Cache will be difficult to impossible to reach in winter. Best time summer and fall.
Original contents: superball, yoyo, small plastic frogs and dinosaurs, parachute figures, army jeep, homie, log & pen/pencil

Was unable to make this one. Snow and streams got to intense. Maybe I'll be back one day

I found three caches earlier in the day on this trail, but seeing the relatively low "only 0.7mi to the next cache" on my phone, I decided to go for it! I have a nasty habit of leaving just one or two toward the end of trails and then not returning to grab them, so I wanted to grab this last one today! After the second stream-crossing, the trail gets narrower, and for a good reason - it's one of the steepest I've experienced! I needed boot studs today, and after the next snow, it won't be accessible until summer. I'm very glad I persevered though - the container is in fantastic shape. I found the cairn easily, on the uphill side of the trail, thank you! I'm not great at building cairns, so I braced some rocks vertically and took a photo. I figured after that hike, a spoiler photo may be ok. This definitely gets a favorite point! (my #443)

We found it! Had not read the log postings so we weren't certain it was the correct cache until we saw the log with the name of it. Great idea! It only had a golf ball in it, so we left a zombie and a car. The flat rock was perfect for a snack. On the way down our girls (two cocker spaniels) went right to the rock hoping for a snack. TFTC.

Seeing that this cache had not been found for several years, we took up a replacement cache. It is in that pile of rocks as close to the coordinates as possible. It is now a small camouflaged jar with the log inside in a separate bottle. We made a little cairn and placed a pointer rock beside it. If you eat lunch on the flat rock mentioned and look toward the rock pile, you should see a pointy rock. I rather doubt that it will last very long once the snow flies. Next year, we will go back and see.

This cache find was transferred from a previous joint account. The find date is generic.

Happy International Geocaching Day! Made a run up the canyon, hiked Butler Gulch, drove Jones Pass and found a bunch of great caches! I spent 15 mins on the way up and 15 mins on the way down and both times I was reading within 5 ft and still no find. Bummer!

I'm agree with nickgatt. I didn't find the cache and I'm no good at finding caches hidden in rock piles. I spent about 30 minutes here and came up empty. sigh...

Visited this one again--and wrote Robyn and Kara's name in the log. Enjoyed our hike today--wildflowers in profusion and many other dogs to play with good dog Kara. Smile
