Ever stood on the main street of Telluride and seen the beautiful waterfall way up on the mountain? You should go there sometime :-)
There are two ways to get at this cache:

From Ouray... and across what includes the most terrifying 100 yards of road I've ever encountered.

Or... up from Telluride which would mean AT LEAST a one-mile hike with some serious elevation increases.

Either way, an amazing journey through the amazing San Juan Mountains.

Nice hike up but lots of bushwhacking near the cache. Tftc!

COpackrat and I drove as high as we could from the Telluride side and then hiked up the road from there. That's not a stretch of road that I ever want to drive. It was tough enough to watch people drive it from a distance. Once we got to GZ we looked for quite a while as it sprinkled rain on us and were close to giving up. I realized we had spent less time looking in one direction and gave it another go. I was quite happy to yell "found it". It was nice to mark that one off the list after being thwarted at the Via Ferrata for the day. TFTC

WingsAndTales and I had planned to do the Via Ferrata today, but it was closed for maintenance, so continued up here to this cache. There were lots of places to look, and the coordinates were bouncy and seemed to be off our GZ, but WAT made the find and we were on our way. Thanks for the cache and bringing us up here to watch jeepers get scared on the Black Bear Road!

Great hike and so glad I continued upwards to this spot. But did not find the cache even after 15 min looking. The old mine, the views, the waterfall were more than enough for me. Thanks.

Absolutely stunning place! Made the hike up from midway point. Took a few minutes to find as there are endless possibilities for hiding places within 100' of GZ TFTC, views and memories!

Was with kekj looking for this one but didn't have any luck. But we will come back and find it.

Out with 2 forks as well as their kids in yet another 4x4 to do Black Bear pass and trail. Another older couple from Texas joined up with us early on for security of numbers making it a foursome of vehicles with a passel of kids and adults. ALWAYS took the more difficult route - including the chute - just to prove to self we could do it, the guys (mostly the kids with me) found several caches while the women folk took hundreds of photos - mostly of flowers! Had a great time spending near 5 hrs on the trail with picnic lunch and kids digging through old tailings finding old square hammered nails, quartz crystals, bits of this and that.

Doing a quick check of GPS load and caching route last night, I checked to see that this had been found recently. More than that did not read much except to look at all the WOW pictures! Printed off description (but not logs) knowing would not likely have cell service in the area and figured would manage to find it fairly easily. NOT SO! If it had been just us we would have spent whatever time neccessary to find but most of the group had not interest AND the GPS bounce was terrible, walking around in circles. We long ago determined that we would not impose our addition on others while we got our fix so after about 20 minutes we called it quits KNOWING that we will be back. BEAUTIFUL VIEW, thanks for bringing us here. Visiting a passel of TBs for a spot on the mileage map -including a foreign visitor from Denmark - Anna LEGO.

Day eight of our Colorado Jeeping Adventure! Our all time favorite cache of the trip. This one is all about why dawnandgary love caching! After yes, the most terrifying part of Black Bear Pass we were lucky enough to find another Jeeper having mechanical misfortune blocking the trail. I was intent on not passing this one up! Gary and I made our way to the cache and after a bit of a search we scored the prize! Thanks for the cache and the fun and the everlasting smiles ! Smile
