Does this look like a potato to you?
Purgatory from Scout Lake

#1 in a series placed near Old Lime Creek Road, this cache is concealed amongst landforms sculpted by the last Ice Age.
Ammo can originally contained logbook, LED keychain, glow in dark stickers, chalk, pliers, necklace, jumprope, and, of course, a gremlin.

Bump to north is Potato Hill (11871'); Twilight Peak (13158') @ 34º; West Needle Peak (13045') @ 89º; Engineer Peak (12968') @ 330º.

Old Lime Creek Road (Forest Rd 591) bypasses Coal Bank Pass on US 550. South end starts at about Colorado/US 550 Mile 51.3, north end at mile 59.6. Area is fairly high in scenic, geologic, and historic interest. This was once part of the highway between Durango and Silverton. Some interesting engineering examples from a bygone era. Road is maintained for most vehicles. Some places are quite rocky and require careful driving. A bit of clearance is helpful, or small size and willingness to dodge the obstacles.

Took a little scramble to get to GZ but once there the find was quick. Love these older, regular sized caches that actually take you somewhere. TFTC

NMFireHorse and Scotty the Highlander got warmed up on Lime Creek Road, which has been calling us ever since we started coming up to visit a friend's cabin nearby -- quite awhile. We weren't about to DNF anything we could get to along the way, including this cache. Thanks for giving us a reason to do the drive, and for the fun cache! XNSL, DBs.

Found it! Great view, terrain more difficult than expected, no visible trail to us. Really enjoyed tracking this one. Hiked to potato lake, very popular hike for families by the way, then looked for cache. Great time here in Durango, CO.

Found with calla_cache and a friend we're visiting after a long, bumpy drive up the road! Fun day! We went to Spud Lake after making the find on a beautiful day. Took nothing, left a postcard and stickers. TFTC!!
