Dogs  Scenic view  Medium hike (1km-10km)

The cache is located along Homesteader Trail in Deer Creek Canyon Park. The cache container is large enough for small items. Look closely and please rehide the cache as you found it so that it doesn't get mistaken for a real critter and eaten. The site of the cache is one of my favorite spots to sit down, take a break, and enjoy the view. Please bring your own writing utensil.
“…Yertle the Turtle was perched up so high,
He could see forty miles from his throne in the sky!
“Hooray!” shouted Yertle. “I’m the king of the trees!
I’m king of the birds! And I’m king of the bees!
I’m king of the butterflies! King of the air!
Ah, me! What a throne! What a wonderful chair!
I’m Yertle the Turtle! Oh, marvelous me!
For I am the ruler of all that I see!”
Then again, from below, in the great heavy stack,
Came a groan from that plain little turtle named Mack.
“Your Majesty, please… I don’t like to complain,
But down here below, we are feeling great pain.
I know, up on top you are seeing great sights,
But down here at the bottom we, too, should have rights.
We turtles can’t stand it. Our shells will all crack!
Besides, we need food. We are starving!” groaned Mack...”

Great day for caching. On the way, I stopped for a drink and a hummingbird came to say hello. She was less than an inch from my left arm. She also was interested in my red backpack. Left a duck with Mack. TFTC

I had the opportunity for a geo-run in Jefferson County today, so I chose to do my hike in Deer Creek Canyon Park. I had previously hiked the western portion in March of 2016, so today I was happy to try the terrain in the eastern portion. Despite a late start, I was very happy with my mileage today (12 miles), the overcast weather, had lots of fun picking up caches, and enjoyed the scenery. I decide to give this cache a try because it looked fun, the terrain looked cool, and the cache had a nice D/T rating. I had a rocky start because the GPS was not cooperating. Fortunately, I was able to sort that out. After a short hunt, I was grateful to make a drama free find on this cache. Thanks to the CO for placing this nice cache and bringing me to Deer Creek Canyon Park, TFTC.
